 Trouble with Well Water
Author: Skipper (FL)

My house has well water supply. I have my house rented. The tenant called saying there was no water supply to the house. I had a plumbing company check the problem and they said there was too much sedimentation coming from the well and the pump was losing suction and had burnt out. We put in a new pump and as a temporary measure to restore water supply he connected it to another well that I had on the property which was being used for the sprinklers. This worked fine.

The plumber then suggested that we should drill a new well at a different location which we did.

However instead of connecting the new well to the house supply pump, he used it to connect it to the sprinkler system.
His excuse was that the old (sprinkler) well quality was known to be good and he did not want to connect the new well to the house because he couldnt be sure of the quality of water.
Does that make any sense? I feel like I have been ripped off and made to drill a new well just for the sake of the sprinkler system.

Well there is some vague logic in what the well digger told you. Take a sample of water from the new well to the country for a potable test. If you pass.. you have your answer. It it doesn't pass, you have a good reference .

Best Wishes
