 Sump Pump Discharge Noisy
Author: wghipps (MN)

I will start this by saying that I am far from being a plumber but I really need some help.
Our sump pump runs every two minutes from March thru December due to a very high water table.
We recently had drainage installed in the yard to divert downspouts, low spots and sump discharge to the street.
They just ran the 1.5" pvc down into a catch basin and part way down the corrugated pipe to get the sump discharge into the mix.
We now have large "burping" and "gurgling" coming from that catch basin as well as two others nearby. These are all right outside our bedroom windows and you can hear it in the house.
The landscapers don't know what to do and the one plumber that came out doesn't either.
I am attaching pictures of the sump pump(and gravity backup) inside the house, the discharge from the house and a drawing of how they have fed the discharge into the drain tile.
Anybody?
Thanks,
Bill in Minnesota

Introducing a tee or Y fitting into the horizontal discharge immediately on the outside of the foundation and then a vertical standpipe off that fitting will eliminate the siphonage that you are experiencing thru the inside check valve.

? would that not be a pressurized pipe when the pump is operating ?

! water may, or may not, shoot out the new vent depending on height !

OP;

try an AAV first (cheap and quick - two fittings - tapped tee + aav)
