Need some help please. here are the variables.. large fish tank project. we are draining the water from the tank to the basement mechanical room..
rough calculation for a 1 inch drain.. the input will sit about 6 inches below the water level of the tank to keep any swirl or air entering the drain. it will flow 10 to 15 feet below to the basement. there it will enter a 5 inch pvc UV sterilizer.. the setrilizaer is a 5 inch pvc pipe that is 4 feet long.. inside it sits a water seal UV bulb .. so water passes throught the 5 inch wide pvc unit that houses the BUlb.
do we think we will get 400 gallons per hour at least? thanks

If the water is not being returned to the tank, why are you 'treating it'. 400 gph is about 6.5 gpm, and with that change in elevation you should attain it. But you still might get an eddy current while it is draining.
