I have redone the kitchen island drains and had to put in an AAV.

Now I know I forgot to put in a CO so I will be adding one.

However, I noticed the garbage disposer side is draining MUCH slower.

If I turn on faucet, let it run on the left side, water goes down immediately and no issue.

If I do the same and let faucet run on the disposer side, without the disposer running, I can see water slowly come up inside the disposer and inch up into the drain.

There is nothing in the disposer, nothing been put into it, just water.

I wonder, is this due to the vertical section of the pipe under the disposer before the p-trap being too long? Some air caught in it and inhibits flow?

If I move the disposer connection higher, and put the CO where it is now, would that solve the problem?

Or the problem is somewhere else?

The other side drains fasts no issue. Puzzling.

How did the disposer drain on the old set-up?

m & m, no idea.

I never turn the faucet on for long in the old setup, because there was a leak below, and I know it wasn't vented and it needs to be redone anyways.

May be its the disposer?

Bern- a $300 disposer may do the same thing. Sum needs to identify first why the slow drainage.

I will plug in the disposer via an extension cord to run it and see, put some ice down it too. Electrical is not yet redone there, as the guy put the dishwasher, disposer, 9 recessed ceiling lights, 4 down lights, 18 cabinet lights, 3 counter receptacles, ALL of these on a single 15a circuit with a run of #14 wires. I have always been against certain permitting processes due to incompetent inspectors and bureaucratic plan review procedures, but I see in this case how bad it can be for those who took matters into their own hands yet they lack common sense.

Anyway, back to the topic, the more I think about it, it is either the disposer, or the piece of pipe after the ptrap and the trap adapter. The disposer side this pipe is much longer. I need to recheck slope there, may be its too horizontal.

UnScrew the AAV and see if it drains better.

It is very unlikely to be a "piping" problem, but it is possible.

Well, if the disposer has not been run during your ownership, that is the first step. It may simply be gunked up. Load it with ice, run water, and maybe that's all it needs.

Remove the trap and see how the disposal drain through the open tailpiece.

well, the disposer no longer works.

I plugged it in and all it does is hum.

I guess I need a new disposer, or no disposer.

It could be jammed because something is caught in it, or it could be rusted do badly it cannot move. The first one is a simple cure, the second one needs a new disposer.

Badger 1 is 1\3 HP, and I would like to know what you do to get them (Badger 5 also) that cheap

It was tested and ran fine during property inspection.

Nothing has been put in it since then. The house is vacant and all anyone ever did was washed hands with soap.

When I decided to redo the drain below it, I also disconnected the electric (and the switch to it for the disposer) because it was badly wired. It was using a single 15A circuit for two island receptacles, disposer and dishwasher. I was waiting to feed a new circuit to that island.

Since then nothing has happened to the disposer. Until I tried draining water down that side and found it to be slow. I used an extension cord to test it since new wiring is not ready and all it did was some hum, I reset the switch no difference.

May be I will just get rid of the disposer altogether.

You said it not me. But the Badger V is a much better product for a small difference in price.

Maybe, but since 95% of the installed disposers, including new home installations, ARE Badgers, it is a moot point.
