 flapper replacement
Author: traman (TN)

old flapper not found in any local supply house is described as slanted horizontal tube over shorter solid tube with rubber stopper below. Fixed support at bottom bowl fill is female and accepts dual pin of slanted tube. top of slanted tube connects to flush handle with chain. fill tube and drain base are fixed and no universal flapper I can find will fit this problem child. Is this an antique, out of production, or total replacement job?Suggestion?

The description is very convoluted, but is probably and American Standard "tilt flush". If so, the rubber disc on the bottom is replaceable. However, it is "snaps on" cut it off or you will break the attachment and have to buy a new tilt unit. A picture of what you have would be much better than that description, especially since, if it is an American Standard part, they make several different versions which are not interchangeable.
