Hi, need an answer ASAP. 2 homes have been working off one main line from the street. First was 50 yrs ago the other was T off the line 20 yrs ago. Both have own meters
We have a large leak in the main line on the street which I am told is our responsibility. The info I am looking for deals with the private water co telling us that each home has to have its own line. So the "t" would no longer be legal. Big expense...anyone out there know anything about the legalities of still using the "t" system? Need info ASAP...many thanks

WE have no idea what the legalities in your area would be. Here, there are "t" connections occassionally. But the "ownership" of the pipes usually depends are where they are located. Again, here, the utility company is responsible for the pipes up to the water meter, because if you owned them, you could install tees ahead of the meters and get "free water".
