How can I properly share a vent between a shower and tub on a horizontal 2" drain line (wet vent).





The dotted blue shows where the vent enters the wall and goes up through the roof (no longer horizontal).

Is this correct?
I mentioned sharing a drain with my local inspector and he said you could be you had to make sure you did it properly. He indicated possibly putting the vent before the shower which I didn't think made sense.

There needs to be a back to back fixture fitting, or double tee in the vertical vent, one side inlet for the tub, the other for the shower.

It's the ONLY way I WOULD do it. And the inspectors LOVE it.

As long as the vent does not come off its horizontal connection at the drain on the same plane.

m&m , what does that mean?

When I use a back to back fitting this way, it is either in a vertical line, but more often in one on a 45 going up and into the wall above the concrete foundation.

Is the double fixture pipe fitting a code requirment? Since it's horizontal I believe the code says it has to be a long sweeping wye.
