Vanity sink install: rubber sealing gasket question
Author: hydrocynus (FL)

Hello all, I have installed a new vanity sink in the bathroom and it leaks very slowly from the rubber gasket.

The rubber gasket has a flange and on top of that flange, there is a male portion that fits inside the sink. The fit is perfect. However, when I want to thread the pipe through the rubber gasket, it is impossible to do so because the diameter of the gasket is now too big.

Is this normal?

Second question: do I need to use plumber putty, teflon tape or pipe dope to prevent leaks coming from the thread?

Thanks for helping as always.
Serge

Ya know.....If you had a computer, I bet you could find a video of how to install one, by searching " How to install a drain in a bathroom vanity".
