I have a Danze shower handle and the diverter lever is right below the shower handle. Not on the tub spout. I had to order a new cartridge due to my old one being completely stripped. After replacing the cartridge, I put everything back on and lined everything up to screw the escutcheon plate back on and noticed the diverter lever was not staying put. It will turn from tub to shower like normal but if you pull on it at all, the whole piece will just pop out. Did I put back on wrong? I don't remember it doing this before.
Thanks so much

did you save the old one?
try putting it back to see if it pulls out as well.
if it does then more than likely the threads on the valve body are damaged and that is not good...

The diverter button on a Danze doesn't thread in, it just lines up and is a friction fit into the actual diverter that is threaded into the valve body. You can shim the button from behind the cover plate with a spacer before installing the plate to keep it from pulling out of the slot.
