Is there a difference?
I can take a 3/4" MIP fitting and it threads into either just fine.
Yet I know MIP/FIP joint is made different from hose who is always compression because that is why there is always a rubber washer there right?
So what is the difference?

A "standard" hose connection has a slightly coarser thread and is slightly larger in diameter compared to a 3/4" pipe thread. You CAN screw a 3/4" male thread into a female hose connection and it will seal to the gasket, but a male hose connection will NOT screw in to a 3/4' pipe fitting.

OK thanks.
I will try to figure out what the connection size is.
I have a Grohe mixer with a connection and I am not sure what size it is.

IF it is part of the faucet, it does NOT have to have any "standard" thread.

I guess I don't know what connection it is then.
I tried a hose cap on a Grohe shower mixer faucet connection and can't stop it from leaking. I think I need a new thread may be I am going about this all wrong.

How about a picture of what the thing is? If it is a "faucet part" it would not normally have a standard thread, in order to prevent "do it yourself" modifications.

hj, sorry I am spinning in my head
I had a few related questions so I started a new thread here to give more background to what I am doing.
