In the living room there is a huge damp spot on the floor. The plumber looked under the house, and there is no pipes. He said it was all dry. We checked the ceiling in the living room and the closet behind it, but there is nothing. The carpet is damp not soaking wet and it keeps getting bigger. Any advice would be nice. Again there are no pipes under this part of the house. Please help.

1. Condensate leak from overhead central A/C register?
2. Outdoor leaking garden hose left on?
3. Fido had to go really bad?
4. Gremlins?
5. "Not Me" really did spill something when you weren't looking? (kids)
6. Clogged/overflowing gutters?


I found a mystery leak today.. A Number 2. Water had puddled up on the cellar steps. An outside garden hose routed behind some trash bins was leaking 24-7, the last user did not shut off sillcock. Good Hunting!

Do you have any pets?

Unfortunately, there is absolutely no information in your description that would help us make a diagnosis. You may have to have the carpet removed to find the source.

The water tends to go downhill, very seldom does it flow uphill. Look above the wet spot and keep looking until you find the source.
