is is correct to throw a wye in horizontal waste in floor and run to wall, vertically up through roof for vent/? this for a shower drain/vent (keeping pitch of wye slightly up)

Yes. It's called flat venting. Just as long as the wye is not too far from the shower drain. And it should be at least 2 in. pipe size.

Yes, as long as the branch of the wye is vertical. The dry vent can not be horizontal off the shower drain.

the drain has to be 2 inch but my code says the vent can be smaller. 1 1/2 is what i would run. must be increased to 2 inch before going thru the roof.

in Colorado I would run 4" through the roof to allow for snow

regardless of code minimum

The question is enigmatic. There are times when it would be proper and other times when it is not. The "Y" is okay, but what connects to it,and how it is done, might not be. WE would have to know the entire section of piping to make a determination.
