 Fridge Water Supply Line Installation
Author: brucecbrown (NC)

The house has a 1/4" PEX water line. I want to install a fridge supply line after the cutoff valve (betweent the cutoff and the faucet). Lowes gave me the install kit that has the saddle valve and says for Copper, but the guy said it works for PEX also. Not sure, seems like I need a different kit but all I can find for PEX is a 1/2" kit, the line is 1/4" though, so I'm unclear what kit I need to do the installation into the 1/4" PEX line.

Before the cutoff there is a brass piece which i thought may be a place for the fridge water line to just screw in, but I guess not ? (I can send a picture of this setup to anyone)

Thanks for the help!!!

Please post a photo(s) on this thread, of your existing faucet valve setup. Use the yellow link on every page of this site, for instructions on how to post photos.

Your easiest installation will be to get a 3/8" x 1/4" "Add-A-Tee" which fastens to the valve then the faucet hose fastens to it. Your icemaker 1/4" goes into the side of the tee.
