my sump pump runs alot meaning every 20 seconds for 1-2 months at a time. We have a high water table plus we live next to a retention pond that has design and construction issues. My builder used the 'Form a Drain' product for the drain tile/footings.
I've done everything possible to help with my situation - grading, backup sump, downspout extentions etc. I've read a few articles on exterior sump pumps. Would this help reduce the amount of pumping from my interior sump pump? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

The pump is removing "excess" water, so whether it is inside or outside, it will work the same amount of time.

I've seen some build a dry well outside their house basements, 3 feet lower than the basement floor. Then install a HD Sump Pump. If the sump pump does its job properly, the water table never rises above the basement floor. Its kind of like an elevator shaft, next to your building, except no elevator. I hope that you would have enough room for something like this.
Best Wishes

Thanks for your response -
How far away from the foundation should I install it? I have room so it is not an issue.
Should it be the opposite side of the house (from where interior sump pump is located) or should it be on the same side of house but opposite corner?

Put it wherever you want to. It is "groundwater" so you have a water table all around the house and it should basically be the same everywhere. Basically, your pump will be pumping the water from under the entire city.
