How to unclog liberty sewage ejctor pump
Author: gaetan (Non-US)

Hi I have a Liberty sewage ejector pump P382 (like P380) -LE-41 that has been correctly installed last october and worked well until we had to take off toilet bowls etc for painting etc: some gravel probably ended up in the system, as now the pump is not working, making a humming like a blocked motor does (i unplugged of course to not burn the motor) The septic system is otherwise functionning ok and not full. The tank has a 6-7 inches bolted opening for inspection, and also the full size cover about 24 inches diameter.
Q: can i clean the impeller just by the smaller access opening? what to expect ? is the pump bolted on the bottom? or will it move easily after unscrewing the exit pipe? is is easy to detach the pump? what to expect? Or will i really need to definitely open the full size bolted cover (bigger job, will have to cut some 2x4 studs etc, did not expect that...)
Thanks, Gaetan Quebec city, Canada

The pump will have to be pulled out and it comes out of whichever opening the pipe is in.

the pump is not attached in any way to the tank, it is free standing.
it is set up on legs and depending on what is jamming it, you may be able to free it without removing it.
it is a dirty, messy job...

Unjamming it after removing it is a dirty and messy job. Trying to do it without removing the pump will be a VERY dirty and VERY messy job.
