 tankless connection

hoping someone can help me...i have an ecosmart 5.5 kw tankless water heater...and i am connecting everything with 1/2 sharkbite fittings to pex. The ecosmart instructions say to use braided compression fitting hoses on the in and out...which i don;t have...what i do have is sharkbite 1/2 x 1/2 npt straight connectors...my question is, can i just thread these on (with teflon tape) on the heater in and out or must i use a compression fitting?...thanks so much..

That heater is designed for point of use applications that is the reason they say to use compression fittings. They are usually mounted under a sink.

Would shark bites work more than likely. Would I recommend them or that tankless no.

The reason they are suggesting braided compression hoses is that they are assuming that you will want to make a direct connection from the heater to the faucet itself. The material you use to make the connections is immaterial as long as you get a water-tight connection.

It depends on the heater's thread. If they are "tapered pipe threads" your fittings will work. IF they are "straight faucet shank" threads they will leak.
