i have read all previous replies, like everyone else my pvc pipes are well anchored with about 9 ft. of head . it has rubber coupling check at top of pit. the problem seems to be head pressure slamming check closed. what if i put another check up 5 ft. and run it as a 2 check system. i am in the wet season on high water table ,pump cycles every 5 mins. whats worst about my question is i am very knowable about piping and can't figure this out. rick

The private well industry does the same thing: integral primary check valve at pump, secondary check valve at pressure tank.

True. Before I added a 2nd check valve, I would want to know the downhill slope of the discharge pipe, and where or what it discharges into. A flooded drainfield? Sewer? Septic?
