New Single control shower no hot water or hot water pressure
Author: patrick.oconnor (IN)

Updated our master bath with oil rubbed bronze fixtures. Waited to do the stand up shower last because I had to shut off main water. Installation went great. Only problem is I have no hot water or hot water pressure. I'm sure I've either installed something incorrectly or backwards. Any thoughts?

I assume you do have cold water pressure, therefore, since the valve is pressure balanced, you should also have the same amount of hot water "pressure". Now, limited hot water FLOW could be due to a misadjusted temperature limit stop inside the faucet handle.

Just the shower

Correct. Cold water has pressure. When you turn the control to hot, the water gets hot but slows to a trickle.

That would normally indicate that the pressure balancing unit is stuck to the cold side. Depending on your make and model you probably either need a new balancing unit, or a new cartridge. It depends on whether the PBU is integral with the cartridge or mounted in the valve body.
