 Basement toilet not flushing
Author: nesej2000 (PA)

I remodeled a bathroom that was original in my basement. The toilet was positioned right beside the shower which is right beside the sink. The toilet was moved approximately 2 feet so now when you are sitting on it, you are facing the enterance into the shower. My contractor connected the waste line directly to the shower drain which is connected with the sink drain. The toilet will not flush. I pulled the toilet and emptied rotto drain cleaner in and still nothing. I don't seem to have drainage issues in the shower or sink that is connected. I'm not sure if the toilet is directly vented or not. The toilet worked briefly when installed and on occassion works. Anyone ever experience similar issues that can provide any advice. Thanks in advance.

Was the job inspected? Was a permit pulled? We'd have to perform an onsite inspection before determining a cause.
