my water line to my SaniFlo toilet has a compression nut and ferule connection...I had to remove the line to move the toilet,,,I just rescrewed the nut and ferule back on the 1/4 turn shutoff...how many times can this be done ?
I dont think the ferule will come off the short pc of copper coming off the supply...

For you or anyone else: infinite times. For me: I'd get the call the next morning that the joint was leaking. So I don't reuse compression fittings/connections.

This answer is good, I love the humor.

its not leaking so.....not sure how I could get the ferrule off to install a new one without wrecking the copper nipple....its like a flex hose coming off the pump unit then a short pc of copper sticking out of the end of the flex...its all ade together....

unless it had been overtightened at some point you are good to go
gross overtightening will make the ferrule 'cut into' the copper
