Leaking disposal

Hi there. I have an occasional small drip coming from my garbage disposal. I checked all of the pipes and fittings and everything is good. I ran the water and the disposal and sure enough, the leak is coming from inside the disposal.

Are there seals inside the casing or housing of the disposal that can be replaced? It isn't too old but I'm sure it is past its warranty.

Please let me know if you have any "disposable" information.

Author: North Carolina Plumber (NC) Its likely rusted out. Modern disposals are pretty much disposable now, lower quality metals, lower quality motors, etc.

Author: hj (AZ) Unless it was a few hundred dollar commercial unit, NO disposer has ever been worth the time and money to repair it, even if you could get the parts.

Author: m & m (MD) When the leak is internal it is usually the pump/motor shaft seal. Time to replace.

Author: hj (AZ) IT makes no difference WHERE the leak is, as long as it is not a rubber connection. In the majority of cases, the economic solution is to replace.
