I am installing a shower base in place of a tub. How do I change the trap to a 2" from a 11/2".Do I have to?

Either use a 2" X 1 1/2" bushing in the shower drain itself, or run 2" all the way til it ties into a 3" pipe.
I think Wheelchair was meaning do you think 1 1/2" is enough, not here in NC it isn't- codewise. 2" is the minimum allowed by code on a showerdrain.

HI, DON'T CHANGE THE TRAP, THE INTERNATIONAL PLUMBING CODE (IPC) USED BY MANY STATES ALLOWS A 1 1/2" MINIMUM SHOWER TRAP, SEE SECTION 709.1; THE DRAIN PIPE IS ONLY 1 1/2", A 2" TRAP WOULDN'T DO ANY GOOD. HAVE A GOOD DAY
