i am helping a friend with some plumbing repairs. he has a grohe shower system that due to some extreme cold temps and lack of use has some burst pipes and a split in the valve. the house was built in the 1980's. he recently purchased a grohe rough in valve 34 397 000. this valve has 3/4 in fittings, the old has 1/2. my question is i'm not sure that the new valve is compatible with the old trim kit? is there a way to check? the only markings on the old valve are these
grohe t-type
asse 1016

made in germany

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

grohe makes great quality products but their trim is most difficult to install.
personally, I would return the grohe valve and get a delta or moen.
i'm guessing the trim will not fit the new valve body.

Grohe-America, used to have their corporate offices in the Chicagoland Area. Last year, the corporate office was relocated/moved to one of the East Coast States. Do a goggle search for Grohe-America for direct contact.
