Horrible smell in sink, under cabinets
Author: m196960 (TX)

I have read many of the posts here and can't seem to find the answer. We started noticing a horrible smell from the kitchen sink in Nov. We have had 3 plumbers out, redone the plumbing underneath the sink, had the septic pumped, ran a hose down the vent pipe from the roof and nothing has helped. The last thing the plumbers wanted to do was over $2000 to rip up concrete and go down and then up the wall to see if something is clogged. The sink does not stop up, the disposal works fine. But if you run the water, the dishwasher or the disposal you get the fowlest odor for quite some time, then it quits. You can smell it under the sink and under the cabinet next to the dishwasher. Nobody can find the smell. We use all of our water sources because we only have two bathrooms. Both toilets, sinks, showers are always in use.
The only thing that was different was that back in the summer I washed some sheep fleeces in the sink and dirt and lanolin went down this particular sink. BUt we only get the smell when we run the water, dishwasher or disposal. Any other time it doesn't smell. It does seem worse when it's cold and wind is blowing. We have a very tiny crawl space under the house(pier and beam) so it's difficult so see everything but when they went down there on two occasions they found nothing.

A sewer camera could be used, vs digging.

Can you be more specific about this failed valve? Where do we look for this? We are not plumbers but none of them can seem to find the problem so maybe we can guide them in some way. Thanks
