Hello
We are on a well and have never had any problems. The pressure throughout the house is good and all lines are flowing with the exception of one of the lines to our washing machine. The cold water line is fine the hot water line is dry. This happened about a month ago but there was still a trickle and when I turned the faucet on full and let it run some dirt came out and then it appeared to be fixed. This time there is not even a trickle. Any ideas??
Thanks

Me thinks a blockage with debris at one of the feed valves. You may have to remove the stem and flush.... slowly.

Ok think plumbing for dummies here. I followed the line from the machine to the water heater...what should I be looking for? If there is a clog at one of the many elbows is there anything I can do myself to try to clear it out? Where would I try to drain it?

Can you tell us how you are checking for hot water at the machine?

take off the hot water hose. take the washing machine end of the cold water hose and attach it to the hot water faucet.
turn off the cold feed to the water heater.
open the drain on the water heater, open the washing machine hot faucet and turn on the cold washing machine faucet. that should send water backwards down the hot water pipe and hopefully blow out the obstruction back into the heater.

I would first remove the hot hose and check both ends for a clogged screen washer. While you have that off, look inside the hot connection on the machine.. often there is a screen built into the intake of the solenoid valve that get gunked up too, esp. if when you have a well supply.
