I am not getting any hot water in my house but hot water heater is hot and when I turn hot water in house on, only cold water comes out and pipes by water heater are hot. I was getting hot water at one point, although only enough for a shower or two. The valve to avoid scalding has been bypassed and I have one of those pumps that is suppose to flush cold water out of pipes when button is pressed but that has never worked. Any idea on what could be wrong?

i'm guessing that pump you refer to is letting cold water bypass into the hot.
see if there are any isolation valves at the pump and shut them.

WHAT is that, and how was it bypassed?

You may have a cross connection, meaning the hot and cold are piped together somewhere, hard to say without seeing it.
How long have you had this problem? What, if anything has changed before you started having this problem?
