I just removed an old standard shower head, went to the hardware store for a new one and upon returning, now have a slow, but steady stream of water coming from the shower "stem" (hot sure what to call it). I've not replaced the showerhead yet. What happened and how do I fix it?

The leak is coming from the shower stem, not the faucet handle. I may be misunderstanding you though. And it's more than just a drip, it's a small stream.

Your diagnosis is illogical, because, unless you had a valve on the old shower head, it should have leaked the water coming from the shower arm. NOTHING you did, according to your description, could CAUSE the leak.

I know... that is why I am so stumped. I will keep trying to figure it out and then may have to call in an expert. Thanks for the response!

correction...
the only 'experts' in this business are the ones on TV who label themselves as such.
we are 'professionals' who get paid for our work.
