hoses running across basement floor to drain
Author: JackEEW (WI)

We have a hose running from our boiler and another hose running from our water softener (which is on a separate wall) to the floor drain next to our furnace and the furnace is located in the middle of the room. What is the best remedy to avoid hoses running across the middle of the floor causing a tripping hazard? The furnace is about 8' from each wall. My spouse said there is some kind of pump that could be added that would pump the water overhead and then down to the floor drain? Or what would be the other options?

If the hose from the softener is the regeneration drain, it will have to be a fairly substantial pump to handle the flow.

Any chance of adding more drains in the basement? Granted it could be costly or an investment for your comfort.

they are called 'condensate pumps' and no, it will not hold the regenerate water discharge, you would have to use a sump pump with a pit or bucket and then re-pump the water where you would like...if this is what you are asking on the first part of your question.

...or a laundry sink pump system would handle the flows.
