 changing a glass vessel sink
Author: biscottiqueen (WA)

Okay, I'm a 65 year old woman so please be kind!... and patient! I'm a widow & have to do most home repair on my own with a fixed income. There is a flat ring over the hole of the glass sink. Not the under sink mounting ring. It's a flat ring on top of the sink. It keeps the sink tight. How do I release it, pull it up in order to change sinks? I have slightly loosened the sink and tried a flat head screwdriver between the ring & glass. Won't budge. I read many messages from all you professional plumbers commenting about the cheap products. I'm sorry to say this is one of them. But, it's new, it's here and I have to try to get it installed but can't release the old glass vessel sink. Any suggestions? Please?

You have to take the drain under the counter top apart. That ring is part of the drain fitting.
