Does anybody know where I could buy a tub valve set with the hot and cold valves 8" apart? It's an old tub, there is no center diverter or shower; just a bottom port for the tub spout drop. I checked our sponsor site but didn't see one. I don't need anything fancy or elegant, hopefully under $200.
Thanks everybody.

Moen and Delta make a remodeler plate....it would cover the holes you currently have.
then you can get a modern 'normal' 1 handle mixing valve
i wouldnt put a 2 handle mixing valve in

Pfister faucet # 03-311 or 05-81BC are two versions depending on which handle you like.

"Remodeler plates" make the job look like what it is, "patchwork". I have used an oversized Delta trim ring so it looks like a professional job.

The Kohler K302
is a smooth operating 2 handle 8" on center valve body that I installed in my own home 3 years ago and I'd do it again and I believe it's still made by Kohler.

I used the chrome "Coralais" 2 handle trim kit which still looks brand new.

Remodeler plates (aka: "Smitty plate") are also available in many variations:

Thanks, Vic. That Kohler valveset looks beautiful. I don't want to cut another hole in the tile, plaster, mortar and lath and re-do the supply lines to install a one handle valve and cover up with a big honkng cover plate. Rebuilding old 1937 faucets can be a pain sometimes.
Kudos to hj too.
Thanks, guys.
