 Hard to Find Flare Fitting
Author: Don411 (KY)

Guys,

Replacing the gas piping in the RV with new 1/2" black pipe and fittings as well. There are 4 appliances in the RV that connect to the main pipe with 3/8" copper tubing and flare fittings. Three of the appliances are located in the right next to each other at the end of the black pipe run and connect via a cross fitting like this:

The existing fitting is almost the same, except that it is SAE 45 deg flare on 3 sides and the 4th side is female 1/2" NPT to connect to the black pipe. Everybody carries a 4-way flare, but for the life of me I cannot find the 3-way flare with one side NPT. I have run out of places that come up with Google....did they stop making these?

Just get a 3/8 flare x 1/2" female and attach it to your flare cross.

Why not use the existing four way fitting you have now ? Or use the new four way fitting with nuts and get a 1/2" female iron pipe x 3/8" flare adaptor and a short piece of copper .Put the nuts on the copper ,in the right direction ,flare the copper and hook them together .There
are other ways to it also .

This is the fitting that is seemingly made from unobtainium:

I was hoping for a mfr name or marking but no such luck. I cut the whole pipe out with this on the end of it and it got dragged on the concrete so two of the flare surfaces are scratched, and I am guessing it won't seal properly now.

it's hard to recommend a solution without knowing how much play there is in the piping below.
any number of combinations of fittings will get the piping back together.

Thanks guys! Packy, this is the piping that runs under the RV frame. I took it all out, so it's getting replaced from the tank pigtail on back, so any fitting combo will work. I was just finding it odd that I couldn't find this particular fitting....

FYI, I caled Anderson and that part has been discontinued....that would explain why none of teh Anderson distributors carry it. Oh well, on to plan B.

:(

then you need a 1/2"NPT cross tee and 3 - 1/2"(MNPT)x3/8 flare adaptors
