 plumber's putty story
Author: NICK (CA)

Was just thinking about something I did 20 years ago and I thought you guys could use a good laugh. I needed to get into a close friends house for a surprise party. I had access to their keys and made an imprint of the house key into plumbers putty. I then poured plaster of paris into my mold and got a pretty good duplicate after some minor cleanup. Took it to a locksmith and it worked like a charm.

I cannot imagine ANY licensed and bonded locksmith making a key from a plaster, or any other, cast.

I am sure a locksmith would lose his license if he did that, because he has no way of knowing WHAT or WHO owned the lock the key was for.
