the new tenant in our condo was supposed to call gas company to tranfer the gas into her name but of course she did not do it in time and the gas was shut off. She has an appointment to get it turned on the 29th June ( when she will be moving in) Will the hot water heater be affected without gas? I don't think so but thought i should ask experts

Not if it's an electric heater.

assuming you are not making a joke -
Why, pray tell, would anyone have an electric heater in a home supplied by natural gas?
perhaps because they like spending unnecessary $$$$ ?

I am not sure but a friend of mine has a house with gas TO THE water heater locations, but has electric heater. There are no flues, but I do not know it that is why they have electric heaters or whether they decided on the heaters so they did not need the flues. Many people, however, do not trust gas water heaters and think they will blow up or kill them with gas fumes.
