Hi,
I have an anti-siphon valve for my garden sprinkler system that looks like this:
Recently I noticed that whenever the sprinkler is switched from the on to off position, the siphon part of the chamber (just in case my terminology is incorrect, I'm referring to the right chamber on the picture...not the left one which sits the manual on-off switch and bleed screw) starts to relief water. No leak when the valve is on, but when turning it off I would see a splash of water coming out the right side.
I am not sure whether this is normal, and my concern is that the anti-siphon action has some problem and the water from my garden/sprinkler will back flow into the main line.
Any advise is appreciated. Thanks.

IT is doing what it is supposed to, which is open when there is no flow. When it opens, there could still be a small amount of pressure in the line which "pops" the water out of the valve. If it did NOT happen, then your main line could be at risk.
