The new washing machine discharges the water at a faster rate than the old one did. You may either have to
1. Increase the height of the standpipe,
2. Increase the size of the existing drain
3. Have the drain professionally cleaned.
It has been my observation that increasing the height of the standpipe will usually solve the problem.

if you have a laundry tub you can empty into that as well and wait for that to drain at her convenience.

increasing the stand-pipe can help if it isnt overflowing too badly on large load and towards the end of the drain cycle. Snake and jet out the line first. Washing machine drains can be compromised with thread, lint and debris that comes from clothes. The newer high efficiency washers that are mostly front loaders dont put much water into the system, but the standard top loaders put water faster into a system than anything in a typical household.

Jetting is a fairly expensive, and potentially messy, process and is seldom necessary unless there is an ongoing problem which proper snaking cannot cure.

Use the old garden hose and suicide nozzle after snaking. Cant hurt and can only help, especially if the problem was closer.
