 ice maker box
Author: FreeFlow1 (IL)

Do I really need to run 1/2 copper solid pipe from under the sink to the box or is there a flex optin. We used ice cube trays when we had dinosaurs. Mine says 1/2 copper sweat and the walls are open, I just thought there was a flexable option... Thanks in advance for your help.

That is the best way. Then you can run a stainless flex line from the box to the refrigerator.

you can always fish soft copper thru the walls.
3/8 from under the sink to the box would be big enough.
of course there is always pex but that requires some special tools for crimping.

Run whatever you have the tools and space for. IF it will use R/O water, a 3/8" PEX line would be preferable. For long time quality control, I often run a flexible 1/2" PEX line from the sink then slide a 3/8" line inside it. Then if the water line fails, I can pull it out and slide a new one in.

I would run stainless flex 1/4 inch designed for refigerators and 3/8 for dishwashers
Especially for refigerators as it is a good idea to maintain the dirt dog hair lint etc by pulling the ref away from the wall and this flex helps Why would you want soft copper ??

mr leak, i believe the question is about the pipe from under the sink to an ice maker box in the wall.

He is referring to the pipe from the sink TO the stainless steel connector.
