HOT AND COLD WATER STOPPED COMING OUT OF OUR KITCHEN FAUCET
Author: chilly9296 (PA)

We have a Pegasus single handle pull out faucet in our kitchen. After being away for the weekend we came home last night and went to fill the dogs dish with water. Water came out for a few seconds then nothing! All the other faucets in the house work, there is no leaking under the sink or in the basement. We turned the valves off and on and disconnected the line from the valve to the faucet and water came out when we reopened the valve.I don't think its the aerator because when the lines are open the built in sprayer tube is malable and doesnt feel full of water. Any Ideas how to fix this or how this happened in the first place?

the only way to be sure it is not the aerator is to remove it and try the faucet.
if that's not it, then the faucet cartridge is kaput..

Had an odd repair call that might be of some help to you. IF YOUR AERATOR IS NOT THE PROBLEM, try removing the spout and checking for obstructions. I was called out for a similar problem with a Peerless kitchen faucet and found that part of the sprayer diverter had broken off and lodged itself in the gooseneck spout thus cutting off the flow of water. Easiest way to find out is to try spraying water out of the sprayer.

Def not the aerator... because the faucet and sprayer are the same (pull out sprayer) my husband and father inlaw ended up taking apart the whole faucet and replacing the sprayer tube and the connector to the diverter and now it works. Cost: $25 Time: 2 hours

What do you mean "I don't think it's the aerator"? Did you CHECK it? Since there is neither hot or cold the stoppage HAS to be after the control handle, which means it is either the aerator or the hose.

Pullout spouts do NOT have a diverter. But, some DO have a device where the hose connects to the faucet which can get plugged.

Cost $25 ?? The parts should have been covered by warranty. Did you call the manufacturer?
