Can I get a 12 inch rough toilet with a 11 inch rough space between bolts and finished tile wall. My plumber says that he can make it fit with a offset flange from pipe, and install will cost more. He suggested a smaller toilet but it is up to me. Will a offset flang cause more backups and issues. How good is this medhod. I live in apt,so really cant up the whole pipe going into ground, I have a medium size bathroom so is 10 inch too small for a 11 inch rough
HISTORY FOR THIS ISSUE
MY original 15 yr koller toilet bowl is flush against wall(zero space) and tank bolts started leaking, My plumber came fixed hardware but cant tighten bolts properly as tank is to tight against wall. The original installation 15 yrs ago had forced the toiled against wall by contractor after he had placed new tile over old tile. I dont know how he even installed my toilet bowl or what is under it. Toilet bowl needs to be replaced and for yrs toiled bowl gets cloged even with snaking. The 2nd bathroom has a 13 inchough rough, How it is possible such a big diff beteen 2 bathrooms

"rough" is determined by the plumber when the pipes are installed, BUT if the plumber and carpenter cannot agree on where the wall is going to be placed, then one toilet will be 11" and the other 13", instead of both being 12". 10" and 12' toilets are the same size, and if they are on 10" and 12" roughins, they take up the same space. However, since the rough is 11" a 10" toilet will have an extra inch behind it, and stick out into the room an additional inch.

i realize that i will cost more to install an offsett flange, but how much more?
if the plumber is pulling the toilet to replace it, there is not much more work to change the flange.

for a 11" rough id get a 10" rough toilet
Mansfield makes a cheap one
i have been using Gerber toilets for 10 and 14" roughs...they make every toilet with a 10" rough option

Depending on the present installation, it might NOT be possible to install a "good" offset flange, and if you install the "bad one", it can create stoppage problems.
