got my drain pan for under the wahser today, ? where to put the drain
Author: cvcman

It came with a 3/4" pvc drain that can go either in the bottom or the side or back, but I was thinking of using a smaller basket type drain and putting it in the bottom of the pan and drilling a hole thru the floor and just use a pc of 1-1/4" drain and going straight down.

This would take much more water then the 3/4" and it would be fairly flat to the floor of the pan so it would start to drain almost instantlly instead of having to build up to get over the thickness of the nut if I use the pvc

Whach think ?

depending on what type fitting you attach to the pan, when i use 1 1/4, i use a sump pump black spiral hose kit. after all it is just an open end pipe with no pressure to it.

pan is under washer that is on the living floor of a ranch house right above a basement floor drain. Again I was going to use a small basket type like a kitchen sink drain in the floor of the pan and just a pc of tail stock sticking straight down

well its done, I put the drain right in the floor of the pan under the center of the washer. It is a basket type drain. I ran the 1-1/4" drain tail stock pc thru the floor (1" thick plywood)and now if it floods again it will go down the drain and out on my concrete floor and down the floor drain.
I also replaced the lifetime burst proof hoses with a new set (20.00) even though the old ones looked great...

Do you realize how long his "to do list" may be by then. I think he is adding things to the bottom of it faster than he is removing items from the top.
