Anyone have any factual information on TAC? I know its not a softening but rather a 'conditioner'. My question is, is this a value to a customer? From what I understand it keeps the hardness soluible. when the water is boiled off in a dishwasher, or humidifer doesn't the hardness get left behind anyway. Thanks for any info. (I have and do install softeners, and my boss approached me with questions on TAC)

T.A.C.
Template Assisted Crystallization (TAC). Atomic level Templates on the surface of small specially treated polymer spheres transform dissolved CaCO3 to a crystalline form. The crystals are relatively insoluble, effectively isolating the CaCO3 from the water chemistry and anything the water contacts.
Basically, a technology that makes it easier to remove, but it still needs to be removed.

I'm sure they want a few grand for that system. I will give you a great deal on some magnets and aluminum foil hats.

IF it is similar to another brand, then when I asked the representative HOW I could tell it was working, he said, "You can't without a semitruck with about $20,000.00 worth of equipment in it."

It does not "go away" so it has to be physically disposed of somehow, eventually.
