Sil-Glyde is the silicone grease which I have been using on cartridges, o-rings etc. and haven't had any problems with it so far.

Any opinions on the use of this grease?

There is absolutely NO WAY that I would use that product for potable water situations.
STAY AWAY from using it for plumbing as it states clearly that it's designed for brake lubricant and the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for it says:
"This material may be harmful or fatal if swallowed."
"May cause eye, skin and gastrointestinal tract irritation."
I'd avoid that for sure and instead recommend that you use a great product called "Super Lube" which is designed for plumbing, is non-toxic, biodegradable and even rated food grade according to the manufacturer:

The person's question sounds more like an advertisement. The product is clearly marked for automotive use in the MSDS, not for human consumption or plumbing use. It is as irresponsible as suggesting that gasoline be used to clean plumbing brass and then solicting opinions. The ad reference is not to a product but rather a Canadian Company that makes the product.
Best Wishes

Ok, I will awitch over to SuperLube.
Its MSDS is here
[www.super-lube.com]
The ingredients are listed on page 2. It lists white mineral oil (petroleum) as a constituent (PAO is also listed, PAO is synthesized petroleum, Mobil1 motor oil is PAO) and, normally, petroleum is to be avoided with rubber. Since SuperLube says it is safe for rubber, this white mineral oil must be an exception to the rule about avoiding petroleum products with rubber.
