I am thinking about adding insulation and subfloor on the basement bathroom floor like other rooms, which will rise the floor level about 2". Do I have to break concrete floor to redo the riser? Can I use the attached flange to avoid modifying riser?

You will not have to break open the floor. Thats not the flange I would use, but it should work in your situation.

A note of caution: You live in a state that doesn't encourage homeowners from doing their own plumbing. If this is the case, hire a licensed plumber and get all the necessary permits. I'd hate to read later that you had to tear everything out and be fined.

youngguy, you have no choice in this. you are not allowed to perform plumbing in the state of massachusetts unless you hold a valid plumbers license. even in YOUR OWN HOME!!!!
you have subjected yourself to a fine of up to 2500 dollars by doing what you have done.
i suggest you contact the governors office and ask why???

Packy, while attending the KBIS Show I met with the engineers of Symmons who all reside in the State of Mass. They were kind of amazed when I told them what you have shared with us in the past. Symmons is trying to release a series of residential fixtures.

Youngguy I hope you have permits pulled for that bathroom I have heard of the homeowner did the work them selves. Then they go to sell the house and there is a bathroom that is not listed as part of the property tax assement. Next thing you know they are tearing that bathroom out or doing it all over hiring a licensed plumber. And if you get caught you are subject to a fine up to $2,500.00. Do your self a favor hire a plumber.
