 Use tub line for sink
Author: jtownap74 (MI)

I'm in the planning stages of a second floor master bathroom remodel. I'm removing the tub and increasing the size of the existing shower since we never use the tub. I'd like to use the tub drain line and water supply for an additional sink/vanity on the oppposite side of the room from the existing sink/vanity. The problem is that the location for the sink is about 6 feet away across floor joists so I'd need to cut holes through the joists. Some of my concerns are pitch, venting and integrity of the joists.

Is this a viable option?

Everything's an option if you have access, time and money.

is it possible to run the tub drain parallel to the joist to a wall and drill horizontal thru the wall?

As my Dad used to say, "Anything is possible if you have enough time and money".
