Moen shower valve stem is too short after installing tile.
Author: rharper60 (IL)

I recently replaced my old bathroom tile with marble tile. After completing the installation I rsealized that the valve stem was too short and the handle won't go on properly. What can I do to get the handle to fit?

Moen makes an extension kit for this issue. Do you know what model the faucet is?

Buy an extension from Moen All it is really is a short stainless threaded bolt/ or buy a bolt that threads into the valve body and cut to length. This should accept the allen set screw.

an "extension kit" consists of a longer "stop tube", a stem extension, and the PROPER length screw/bolt.

How did you secure your valve body depth?often if the valve body was used to secure a few turns to release the valve will not harm the install value.as said the valve type is case sensitive and I would never change the in wall strapping with out understanding the use deviation..
