 Antique Crane Parts

Does anybody know a parts source for old Crane bath and kitchen faucets? I checked out our sponsor and didn't find a match. It's from the 40's I say. Thanks to all!

Tapco, a div of Elias Industries in PA has the prints and dies to make the Dialeze stems. Tapco has distributors all over North America. There are other companies that have copied that stem assy, but there is nothing like the original part.....

Thank you, thank you, thank you all!! With your help, there is one happy land-lady here. She has a 2 story 4 apt unit and these Crane Dial-Eze faucets are all over the place, most of them leak.

Repair parts are also an easy find .Make sure you get right and left hand stem assemblies .The stem units will have an R.H and an L.H. stamped on them ,for the hot and cold sides .They will interchange but the handles will turn on and off in a different direction .

I am sure some of the other replies will say the same thing, but it is NOT an antique part. Almost every store that carries faucet parts should have a replacement Crane Dial-Eze stem. Indivivual parts are also available but I think you would have a better result changing the entire stem.

And probably also at Ace Hardware.

They leak because the brass stem wears quickly once a leak starts.

As always, you nailed it, HJ. I found the stems and parts kit at Ace. Do you have any idea how long Crane made the Dial-Ese faucets? They started in 1948 I think. They must have been popular for a while.

I wish I could replicate that plastic bezel on the kitchen faucet model. I could sell 4 of them yesterday.

Crane Plumbing of Evanston, IL had their brass faucets made by their cousin, Crane Canada for decades before the lead-free issue presented itself. Today, Crane is part of American Standard and a much different profit group then it was in the 30-40 & 50"s.

The made them "forever" and the parts fit all of their faucets for decades, just like Chicago Faucets which used the same mechanism for a "century" and still use a variation of it which is interchangeable with the older version. A few years back I had to remodel at a U.S. Post Office which had sinks with proprietary Dial-Eze faucets. Crane still had enough of them in their storeroom for me to do the renovation.

I understand from my old Crane Plumbing contacts that Crane Canada, continued to produce the dialeze and magiclose stems for a number of years after the lead free issue. These stems were then shipped to Crane's Kentucky Warehouse. Today, the casting dies were sold to TAPCO. American Standard, Speakman and several other companies did the same... back then.
