I am new to this site, and hope someone has had a similar problem, which they can share with me the correct fix. While filling my tub, I noticed the pressure getting lower and lower, soon afterward, a strange noise, and then I noticed resin in my tub. It also found it's way to all faucets in the house, clogging areators and valves. I put the softener in by-pass mode, but have not yet open the softener. I would think the distribor tube or strainer may be broken. Does this seem like the possible problem? If so, would these parts be available, and where would I be able to find these parts easily? I do not know how much resin was depleted, but after 6-8 years, I would think the resin may need to be replaced as well. Thanks,

It is not a common problem, but it does happen frequently. The hardest part is getting all the resin out of the system and cleaning the toilet valves and faucets. Unless you have a really expensive, or fairly new, softener, I would not bother trying to fix it and would just replace it with a new one.

Yes one can obtain replacement parts for a water softner if you are willing to wait for the order to come in.

Do not try to do the fix yourself. It is not a DIY job. Contact a local Water Treatment Dealer or Plumber. Softener's are not so disposable as instead of fixing it just replace it. Don't do that if it is only 6 - 8 years old.
You have to have the right tools and parts to fix a broken outlet distributor which is what has likely happened.
