Praytell what is this little jewel you would like to know about? Is it nuclear device? Something in your shower? How about a photo>>>>

ASSE 1016

American Society of Safety Engineers. Spec 1016 has to do with temperature protection in faucets, showers, etc.

How about a picture of the cartridge.

It is either a Delta #604 "Scaldguard" or a knock off of one. The "thing" with a slot to the right is a "pressure balancing spool".

in picture 3 of 5, is that a black steel nipple going to the spout?
as for it being a delta, does delta have a diverter lever that is "T" shaped?

That is a Danze faucet. Since the wall is open now would be an excellent time to replace it. I've found the Danze faucets to be pleasing to look at, but rather poor quality and require frequent servicing.

I think if you push the cartridge out of the chrome piece, you'll see it is a Danze.

It has several aspects that lead you to believe it is a Danze. The problem is, I can't find the several different aspects on a single available cartridge. Maybe it's a knock-off?How old is it?

The threaded trim is very much like Globe Union....so that includes Danze and Glacier Bay.

Thanks guys,
I'm going with the Danze, but have read a lot about them and none of it good. What could I change to and still keep the hardware i.e face plate and handle?

When you change... everything must be changed. Nothing is compatible and that is good for you. A fresh start with American Made Shower.

After seeing the cartridge, he body is "similar" but not the same as the Delta, and thus not interchangeable. It does not correspond to any that I find in the catalogs.
