faucet without threads on the spout?
Author: ricki (CA)

Hello All. I have an old wall mounted faucet with the aerator missing. I need to find a replacement part because water is splashing all over. However, there are no threads on the inside or outside of the spout. I am confused as to what type of part is missing here, I'm not sure what to look for. The aerators all have male or female threads. Is there some sort of connector? I've pasted a link to a picture. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

that looks like it might be an aerator threaded into the spout

The shell for the aerator is still attached, but without its internals. You have to unscrew the aerator shell to see the internal threads.

Best Wishes

That IS your aerator, with the guts gone. Go ahead and put pliers on it, because you will be replacing the whole thing.

If you look closely at the photo, the "internals" are still there. The screen is the only thing missing.
