I have the mansfield 160 and need to replace the flush valve, could I use the Mansfield 210 Toilet Flush Valve?

The 210 flush valve is 3.5 gpf. If your toilet is newer than 1992, that would be wrong. You need the 211 flush valve.

When I don't like a manufacture's product, parts or components... I call them direct and tell them. Often I get new parts free with an apology. Why not consider giving Mansfield a call and a second chance.
Mansfield- 877-850-3060
When I like a product, I tell everyone here.
Best Wishes

You can use ANY flush valve you want to, and adjust the length of flush with the tank ball. You will need a different flush handle/lever.

Agree with HJ.you can install a douglas pvc flush valve or a fluild master pvc flush valve on any mansfield and with a simple flapper adjustment get the best flush from this toilet you have ever had.yes you want the new tank to bowl kit.Funny it is in the fluid master repair kit.

I don't know if you really need to replace the flush valve, but in my area I see many people try and replace the flush valve when all they need to do is replace the flush valve seal instead.

I called a locale plumbing and they said that I could replace the flush valve with a standard douglas f.v. they said it would be alot easier in the long run, you can just replace the flapper which you can buy at any hardware store and I did check Home depot but they don"t carry douglas.
To me it makes alot of sence to buy a f.v. that you can pick up at your local hardware store.
I found a korky f.v.#125469 @ lowes w/everything to replace the f.v. but I don't know how easy it would be to just buy a flapper for this item, I'm still checking.
The problem I'm having I push on the flush handle and its stuck, I have to open the cover of the tank and pull up on the f.v.

The problem you have is not unusual for the Mansfield flush valves. Replacing the rubber seal on the bottom usually improves the situation. Make sure to clean the seating surface with an alcohol wipe.
But yes, any 'generic' flush valve ( known to some old-timers as Douglas Valves) can replace it. Fluidmaster makes some adjustable flappers, so you can make it work on a 1.6 or a 3.5 toilet.
I don't know if "douglas" is still in business!

It should use a conventional flapper, in fact one should come with the flush valve.

I'm thinking if i'm going to go through the trouble of taking it apart it might be wiser to replace the fv along w/bolts and seals instead of just replacing the seal.

That comes under the category of "if it's not broke, don't fix it". I have only replaced a handful of flush valves in my 60+ years.

The original question was NOT how to fix the flush valve, it was about what he could use to replace it. Our replies addressed THAT question.

the plastic handle lever is not strong enough to raise the degraded rubber from the seat.replace only the flush seal and be as good as new.

"if it's not broke, don't fix it", Just what I needed to read! I did check the local plumbers store and he told me to replace the mansfield valve seal and told me to go to local store osh hardware and ask for the 210/211 mansfield valve seal, so I did and it cost me $2.14 out the door.
I took the water line off the top of th fv and unscrewed the top piece, lifted the fv outer body out, replaced seal, body, cap and water line.
works like a fv should!
Thank you, thank you all it took me awhile to fix, it has been worth the wait and I'll alway remember "if it's not broke, don't fix it",
Proiblem solved.
