We installed a 4 piece Aqua Glass acrylic shower unit 2 1/2 years ago an the base unit has cracked. I am looking for ideas on what might be possible short of gutting and doing it all over again. The walls overlap the base and all pieces are secured to the studs with screws so I don't see any good way to just remove and replace the shower base. Is it possible to cut out the base and have a cermaic tile base layed? Any ideas?
Warning: never install one of these base untis that are only supported by a block of styrofoam according to the manufacturer's directions. Always use a base of motor underneath, the styrofoam is not strong enough to support the weight over time.

Sorry, Trying to remove the sections above to replace the pan is the only option.I would not reinstall the unit but opt for a all tiled closure .Or at least opt for a better unit.

Good Luck. Insulate your hot piping, although costly, it will pay you back every day.

While it is unusual to see a cracked acrylic base that has been bedded in mortar, it does happen. IMO a poured cultured marble base with matching walls is hard to beat for the price. I would price one out and compare it with replacing with another acrylic.

tear it all out and redo it...you dont have a choice..
if the crack isnt too bad you can have someone repair it, but since it was installed poorly id just eat the cost and start over.

You should at least get an estimate for someone to repair the cracked portion. It may not cost as much as you think.
You may be able to take a picture of it and get an estimate without someone actually having to visit the home.
I have had new installations get damaged on the jobsite and had repairs made on site.

yeah but if it cracked because of flexing repairing it wont help unless you address the flexing problem

It can not be repaired. The plastic is no thicker than a credit card. The box the unit came shipped in would have lasted longer than those Aqua-Glass units from Lowes. I will not install them. What Junk!!!!!

I agree my tub guy could fix it almost guaranteed. For 17 bucks home depot sells a kit to make minor repairs in fiberglass tub and showers. I used it once on a tub it worked but it was a pain in the ass to match the white color exact.
